Alright, although I may not be the best person to write game reviews, i am the only one on this site currently able to do so. Among other things, I enjoy playing video and computer games and enjoy most genres. My goal here will be to provide the best review I can while being fair to the games themselves.

Shakes & Fidget: The Game
Link to Game

Platform: Flash Web Game
Genre: RPG (Fo-MMO)
Cost: Free With Premium Options
Time Requirement: 30 Min to 8 Hours a day

The Good: This game is very light hearted. All of the armor and items have fun names to reflect the character stats that they represent. You may get an item that is "of the Chubby" to reflect if something helps your characters health, or "of the Unlucky" if it directly affects your Luck stat.

The Okay: Quests in this game are completed based on time. You accept a quest in the Tavern, and each quest has a time allotment, which also affects your "Thirst for Adventure". During the time that you are working on this Single quest, you cannot really do much more than visit the Weapon or Magic shop, or other utility places like the Guild Hall. At the end of the Timer count-down, you fight one creature in a Pokemon-esq fashion, but have not abilities that you can throw into the mix, and if you win, you get your reward.

The Bad: Even though this is a free game, there are features in this game that if you wish to partake of, you need to have Premium "Mushrooms" to utilize. Granted the Mushrooms are cheep, but with how rarely you find mushrooms in quests, you would need to at least spend $5.00 once a month on these mushrooms.

The Score:
Graphics: 4/5
Game-play: 3/5
Time Commitment: 3/5
Cost: 2/5
Retain-ability: 3/5

Overall: 3/5
Quixjote Score: C Average

A Year Of Updates

It was a year ago today that I started making News Updates to the site using a Database system. Thanks to Brad Phillips, They have been rather consistent over the last few months. A lot has changed over the years. My services have been simplified dramatically to make room for other things. But for the services that I DO provide, I provide them to the best of my ability. As you can see, the site has changed again this year, as has some of the key features of the site, like the advertising section. There were no hits last year for the advertising, so I re-designed it and made it more like a bulletin board. As far as services are concerned, I have cut back almost entirely how much I program. The technology is changing fast enough at this point that I find it is better to offer little updates to sites, like I do for Adelsheim Winery. So, to all of you out there who have kept up on updates and sticking with us, Thank you! ~Charles Siegfried, Owner

Donation Programs for 2010

Quixjote's Donations - Donations that Donate - The Program

If you are taking the time to read this, I thank you! I do my best to provide everyone with the best service possible, but to do this costs money. For those of you that do not know, I run a computer business in Newberg, Oregon called Quixjote's Computers. I share an office with a college friend, Stephen who runs Purchase Power.

For the next year (and possibly longer) I will be running a donation program that will help provide service back to the community.

As I build my operation here in Newberg, OR to be able to support the general area, there are things that are needed to help move the business in the right direction. Sure, when people see "Donation", their initial thought is money. Yes, money does indeed help with the bills and getting supplies on a moment's notice, and we are always grateful for any monetary donations you are willing to provide. For those that are wanting to donate money, our current operating expenses are as follows between Stephen and I:

Building - Rent: $600/Month

Building - Insurance: $30/Month

Building - Phone, Fax and Internet: $130/Month

Building - Garbage: $25/Month

Building - Electric: $15/Month

Business - NFIB: $20/Month

BUILDING - TOTAL: $820/Month

Aside from monetary donations, there are plenty of other things that people can donate. One thing that we need are old computer parts. Everything from old motherboards and processors, right down to power adapters and mice.

Service is also greatly appreciated! Sometimes we get people coming in who need a virus scan and I am not always available at the office to take care of it because of my different contracts. If you want to volunteer time, send me an email with your specialties and contact info, and I will add it to my service matrix. When I receive a call or need a job done within your expertise, I will contact you and see if you are willing to help.

Donating Money to Quixjote's Computers allows Quixjote's Computers to Donate Back!

Quixjote's Computers has a Community Service Pool. For each $25 that is donated to Quixjote's Computers between now and December 31, 2010, One Point is added to the Community Service Pool. How does this help others? Every day there are people that need help with their computers or their sites. It might even be Consultation for their site or computers. I charge for these services because I need to... but what if I didn't need to? I would still offer them because I am passionate about helping people! Everything I offer has a monetary value. Because of inflation and expenses, this number changes from time to time... things get more expensive... I don't like this, I really do not like this, but it happens.

To counter this I would love to be able to use the Community Service Pool to help people. You have a virus on your computer and it won't go away? At the time this document was written, our Anti-Virus removal is $50, or 2 points. Bring in your machine! Check our Community Service Pool! I would seriously rather have someone use some or all points to get their system working right, then have them do nothing because of price issues and then have that virus spread to other computers! So what can you do with these points? For the task above you have the following options:

      Use 0 Points - Pay $50

      Use 1 Point - Pay $25

      Use 2 Points - Pay $0

Each person would be able to choose how many points they are using. I am well aware that there is going to be the occasional person that will take advantage of the system, and if/when that happens I will probably have to impose caps... whether it is on a per task basis, or per person basis is yet to be determined.

Things like programming can be a little harder to price out at times. At the time of this document, Quixjote's Computers main program in development is about 80% to production. Right now, programs that I create for my clients are not easy to duplicate from one client to another, and a lot of research is often involved to give desired results for my clients. Again, My passion is to help people! I would love to be able to provide some of my programming services for less, complete them faster, and have much more repeatable results for each client. Completion of our Main Program will achieve this with it's template system.

It is not just about the business...

For those that have been to our office, know that we are very laid back people. Stephen and I also want to make the back half of the office a place where people can hang out during the day. A safe place where anyone can come in and play games, hang out, and learn about what we do. Say some kid in High-School wants to learn about putting computers together: I would love to have our store set up so they can come in and research and try system building hands on, without having to worry about if they are ruining something or testing on expensive parts first.

By the beginning of 2010 I will have a page up on my site that will list all of the donations (Service, Parts and Money) that have come in, along with the current Community Service Pool Balance.

Now for the part no one likes to hear:

For those that want to donate money, you can send through Pay-Pal (Minimum $5.00) at quixjote@quixjote.net

For those that want to donate cash or check: Office Address is

      Quixjote's Computers

      300 W Hancock St

      Newberg, OR 97132

Checks made to Quixjote's Computers, Memo: Donation (You can add what for if you like)

For those that want to donate parts, just come to the above address during regular work hours.

For those that want to help, but cannot do either above: Please re-post this note to People You Know! Word of mouth is a wonderful thing. If you understand and really believe in what I am trying to do, then pass the word along.

Again, I thank everyone in advance for ANY support they give, big OR small.

      Charles Siegfried

Owner of Quixjote's Computers and Quixjote.net

I finally took the time to figure out the controls for Flash CS3 and was pleasantly surprised with how similar the controls were to Adobe Premier, which I have had a lot more training in.
Today was the first time I have ever been to a local Chamber of Commerce meeting. I have to say, it was rather enjoyable. It is great seeing so many local business people together in one place. Not to mention I was able to hand out a few business cards as well. My thanks goes out to Stephen for letting me know about it.

Thanks to Google, I have a direct calendar for general appointments on Quixjote's Computers site. This should help if people want dedicated time for help with projects or such from us. It will also help with determining who is working on what and for whom. Now people will see if Charles is doing a system restore, or if Jeff is working on a Web Project for an Client.

I spent a great deal of time yesterday researching pricing of similar services over different demographics and found that, yes... My prices on average were about 3x as much for my bundled "Deals" as other places. I have since corrected this and the site, in store price sheet and craigslist ads have been updated.

My first machine that I bought with Vista on it is finally getting a full restore. When I bought it Vista was still Pre Service Pack 1 and I intentionally tried to break the system. I never actually broke it and it still performed tasks like playing World of Warcraft (Pre Lich King) Fine, but there were definitely noticeable glitches. As of right now there are 80 updates in progress, and I am only using 12GB out of the 250GB Hard Drive. Also got to try a new Crud Ware removal technique, which I am a big fan of. The only thing I need to do with this machine now is max out the RAM. Yeay for older RAM.
